William Johnston Email and Phone Number
My interest in historic preservation has been prevalent my entire life – so much so that I created my own major at the University of Maryland, College Park in Planning and Preservation, specifically Historic Preservation. Throughout numerous positions as a historic preservationist and government contractor, I closely created easement applications and conducted extensive research for buildings and properties that qualified for over $40,000 in government grants and up to $300,000 in tax credits. My extensive research background equipped me with a strong attention to detail to reports in order to determine redactions, and clear compliance with application rules, which is crucial for this position. As a contractor with FEMA, I looked over detailed reports from numerous contracting companies that wished to restore and rebuild infrastructure in New Orleans and surrounding areas due to the Hurricane Katrina disaster. In that role I discovered what was considered within the scope of work on projects, proposed redactions and improvements needed, and adapted that information for the federal government to move forward on infrastructure improvements. This led to billions of dollars in infrastructure improvements within this project. Lastly, in my work as a private Historic Preservationist, I applied and received a grant for a War of 1812 project through the 200th Anniversary War of 1812 Celebration Commission, where I received, coordinated, and tracked requests from the Commission to ensure compliance and maintain frequent communication. Over the past few years I’ve set my sights on the DC area, as I currently sit on the DC Preservation League’s Landmarks Committee. I currently am a member of Honey Do Today Handymen, providing historical repair consultations and services (windows, doors, walls, paint, etc.) For repair consultations and work please fill out this form: https://form.jotform.com/213466286862162
