I was always interested in math, science and computers, and gravitated towards engineering in college. Civil and Environmental engineering seemed to make the most sense to me, so I pursued that path. I initially was interested in transportation / road construction, but gravitated to environmental later as an undergraduate.Early in my career, I worked primarily in the environmental consulting and remediation disciplines, and switched back to a more geotechnical / materials / road construction based focus after a few years. Since 1997, I have been employed by Schleede-Hampton Associates, Inc. in Birmingham, MI. I also worked for SHA as a student in 1990 and 1992.Currently I am the leader of our construction services group, including our geotechnical and materials laboratory and all field services for construction materials testing and engineering. I also conduct geotechnical investigations for utility, transportation, and other infrastructure projects for municipal and industrial clients.Specialties: Geotechnical engineering, materials engineering and testing, pavement evaluation, PC concrete and asphalt mix design, construction materials field and laboratory testing.
