On contract with CVS:Rapidly iterated a series of design concepts for an executive-driven innovation product targeted at a new service market using Figma to create wireframes and prototypes and Miro for collaboration. Created a service map of the product ecosystem. Crafted a usability test script and recruitment screener.

Converted to FTE staff as UX lead:• Helped company grow from $80M to $130M profit over four years as product team doubled in size.• Established a UX practice. Worked closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Developers, QA, SMEs, Project Managers) to integrate user-centered design into development processes of 4-6 Agile Scrum product teams for a suite of SaaS web applications for non-profit health systems. • Tactical work included user research, wireframing, UI design, prototypes, usability analysis, personas, design standards, and initiated a design system. On a 6-month contract for Allstate Insurance:• Supported two Agile XP product teams for an enterprise web application and a B2C mobile application performing claims adjudication domain research, usability testing, and interaction design. • Worked with stakeholders, Product Managers, a visual designer, and developers to plan and deliver product releases. • Used Sketch to wireframe and design, InVision to prototype and Zeplin to collaborate with developers.

• As an Information Architect (IA) for the att.com “usage pod” used Axure to create wireframes based on user stories that guided front-end development. • Advised the team on issues of usability, accessibility, and web standards and assisted in conducting usability testing for a new cloud DVR service.

• For the Creative Media Solutions (CMS) Team in the Defense & Intelligence Group, was UX lead for cross-functional teams for multiple clients within the US Government Classified (USGC) client and across the Intelligence Community (IC). • Contributed to Booz Allen staff development by establishing and chairing the UX Community of Practice (UX CoP). Brought in industry leaders to conduct UX workshops. Created and taught UX training. Mentored junior UX professionals. Was 2015 “Mentor of the Year”.• Contributed UX expertise leading designers and developers in UCD practices. Performed user research (user interviews, requirements elicitation, task analysis), information architecture (card sorts, navigation design, content organization, plain language), UI design (wireframes, prototypes, interaction design), usability analysis (heuristic review, usability testing, design recommendations), and front-end development support (HTML and CSS).• Example projects included:o Led hostage and personnel recovery research across twelve participating IC organizations.o Led UX for redesigning the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) website to create a cohesive integrated web presence for four Mission Centers and five ODNI offices.o Led a Human-Centered Design (HCD) effort to understand the target users and the existing data visualization capabilities within the IC to guide development of a “visual intelligence” workspace for the USGC executive leadership.o Conducted a 3-month study (user research, usability analysis) for clandestine communication products (hardware and software) using Human Factors and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) design principles and cognitive psychology to guide design recommendations. • As a web and application developer, began efforts to transition my career to UX design. Applied UX skills in usability, accessibility, web standards, and visual design to elevate the products I developed.• As a developer for the Close Support Team (CST) of the Counterproliferation Center (CPC), conducted an 1-year ethnographic study and contextual task analysis of the ‘sensitive data’ domain to build an application for managing complex data maintenance and access security via a single simple UI.• Supported another CPC product team by writing user scenarios to help their product pass strict security validation while supporting users’ tasks. Conducted a usability analysis, conducted user interviews, and created wireframes for the application to provide UI design recommendations.

• Led the development team for an electronic publishing and dissemination application. Work included integration with other production of intelligence and enterprise data systems. • Participated in an Application Services (APPS) working group to plan the roadmap for future consolidation of the separate production of intelligence systems.• Chaired a sub-committee to establish metadata standards across the various systems and the USGC client environment.

• Led the Corporate Resources Infrastructure (CRI) development team for the National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC).• Designed and built the CRI website after two prior development efforts failed to deliver a user-friendly site.• Established UI design standards for the team.• Led a team tasked to improve the NCTC Online Community of Interest (COI) collaboration suite, • Led focus groups and user interviews to define application requirements.• Prior to developer role, as a highly regarded and sought-after technical instructor, developed and taught a custom week-long course for new USGC system administrators. Developed a class for the D/CIA Community Management Staff to train users on their new custom budgeting software.• Prior to USGC work, led a team of instructors for the World Bank training program. Responsibilities included training and assessing new instructors. Requested by client to lead a new training effort for the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to develop custom courses and train in-house technical trainers. • Attained Certified Instructor status and taught classes for a public Lotus Authorized Education Center as well as in-house training courses on web design and development.

Worked as House Manager and Audience Development Program Manager for a nationally renowned professional theatre company. Hired, trained, and supervised an eight person staff and coordinated numerous volunteers; developed operating procedures; designed, developed, and maintained databases and automated reporting systems, and provided desktop publishing services, including creating a professional Study Guide Series for educators. Under my management, these programs experienced rapid and steady growth and revenues far exceeding their previous history.
