My practice involves intellectual property law, focusing on patent, trademark, and copyright prosecution, licensing, and related litigation. I counsel individuals and companies with respect to procuring, protecting, and enforcing intellectual property rights.My prosecution practice involves the management of worldwide patent and trademark portfolios and includes the preparation of: (i) patent, trademark, and copyright applications; (ii) patentability, patent infringement, and patent validity opinions; and (iii) trademark registrability and clearance opinions. My patent prosecution practice focuses on the electrical, electro-mechanical, and computer arts. I have experience preparing and prosecuting patent applications in a wide variety of technologies including medical devices (including medical imaging systems, medical device position tracking and navigation systems, and electrophysiological mapping and ablation catheters), engine and motor control systems (including microprocessor based systems and discrete electronic circuits), motor architectures, data storage and retrieval, electronic interfaces, sensors, power transmission devices (including brakes, clutches and couplings) and vehicle components (including brakes, axles, suspensions, frames, and fluid delivery systems). During my career, I have authored over three hundred original patent applications and handled nearly fifty appeals to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.My litigation experience has involved all types of intellectual property and a wide variety of forums including Federal Courts and the Patent and Trademark Trial and Appeal Boards.I also regularly negotiate, prepare and review agreements involving all types of intellectual property rights and assets including asset purchase agreements, license agreements, and technology development agreements. I have served as lead intellectual property counsel on several merges and acquisitions involving purchase prices exceeding $100,000,000.00.
