As Co-founder of Avalor, Will is responsible for building an outstanding team of scientific, business, and clinical development experts to make Avalor a leader in addressing major unmet medical needs driven by chronic inflammation. Prior to Avalor, Will started Nanotech Bio in 2012, a startup that pioneered the development of graphene bio-electronic sensing technology (GBEST) for drug discovery. Nanotech Bio collaborated with Amgen to enable and demonstrate lead discovery and target engagement characterization with challenging integral membrane proteins like SLC transporters. GBEST was licensed early to Amgen. Prior to Nanotech Bio, Will worked at Atomica (formerly IMT), where he led the early development of transformative biosensor products like PacBio’s SMRT Cell®, which has become a dominant commercial product in long-read DNA sequencing & precision medicine (NASDAQ:PACB).Will was born in a Copper mining village in Peru. Through merit-based scholarships, he immigrated to the US and obtained his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Materials Engineering from Colorado School of Mines & UC Santa Barbara, respectively.
