Bill Carson leads the U.S. Bancorp Impact Finance New Markets & Historic Tax Credit business in the Southeast U.S. & U.S. Territories, as well as national NMTC homeownership investments. He has led more than $1.75 Billion of qualified equity investments across 140 projects to create jobs; establish community services; finance nonprofit, commercial and residential real estate; and improve access to capital in disinvested neighborhoods.During this time, he expanded USB's corporate partnership with Habitat for Humanity through extensive homeownership investments totaling more than $500 Million across the U.S. In 2020, he launched USB's business in the U.S. Territories via investments in Puerto Rico and Guam.In prior roles with USBIF, he led the "infUSe" Community Impact Strategy team, a data- and impact-driven effort to understand and expand U.S. Bank's community impacts, create investment tools, and forge partnerships with Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs), including industry group Opportunity Finance Network.Prior to joining USB in 2014, Bill was VP of Operations Strategy and Sustainability of the McCormack Baron Salazar (MBS) Companies and President of Sunwheel Energy, an MBS Company providing green building and renewable energy services. In these roles, he Certified two of the first global USGBC Neighborhoods, and led MBS to become a top developer of green, economically integrated communities, helping the company win numerous awards for sustainable urban development.He began his career in engineering and product management with multi-national industrial and environmental company Air Products before leading a groundbreaking civic partnership to improve student outcomes in at-risk public schools.Bill is a USGBC LEED-Accredited Professional and Cornell Engineering alumnus and holds master’s degrees in Engineering & Policy and Engineering Management from Washington University. He is an active civic participant in the City of St. Louis and is passionate about improving resident well-being and advancing economic outcomes in distressed, urban communities.Over 25 years, he has served on numerous cultural, arts, and civic boards and advisories including Center of Creative Arts (‘20-23 Board President); Saint Louis Fashion Fund (current); Brickline Greenway (current); EcoDistricts; St. Louis CDFI Coalition Advisory; Flance Early Learning Center; Downtown STL Partnership; FOCUS St. Louis; Metropolis STL; and Mentor St. Louis. He lives in the City of St. Louis with his family.
