Currently sourcing opportunities for a Private Equity firm to acquire hedge funds and accelerate growth. Representing a London-based Systematic Macro manager with business development. Open to considering additional consulting projects or full-time opportunities within Alternative Investments. I am a builder and leader of alternative investment strategy businesses, recently having led the development and launch of a quantitative, multi-strategy, hedge fund at SSGA. Designed with lower fees and more transparency than hedge funds, the Fund was positioned as an extension of SSGA's factor-based investment heritage and built to help institutions achieve their investment goals in a non-correlated fashion. Prior to SSGA I managed Merrill Lynch’s $25 billion hedge fund platform. Consistent with my work throughout my career, I developed a strategy for Merrill Lynch which best leveraged its institutional strengths while protecting it from unintended risks. Rather than focusing on the latest "hot" hedge fund managers, I led with an emphasis on asset allocation and began a quarterly publication, HFA Selects Advice and Guidance. Concentrated, multi-manager "verticals" (Macro, Equity L/S, Event, Relative Value, Emerging Markets) were used as building blocks to guide clients to achieve their goals while protecting Merrill from unwanted headline risk associated with hedge funds during the financial crisis. Early in my career I traded FX cash, forwards, options, and arbitrage at Chemical Bank, Bankers Trust and UBS. It was at Julius Baer, starting in the late 1990s, that I was given my first opportunity to build a strategy, hire a team, and execute. With a deep expertise across markets, multi-asset portfolio management, trading/operations, product management, marketing and distribution, and hedge fund acquisitions, I am eager to meet with potential partners interested in building and executing growth strategies.
