I am actively involved in community recreation centers, Boys and Girls Clubs, churches, animal shelters, food banks, and various services. There is a national crisis, and I challenge churches, private organizations, community clubs, businesses, politicians, the wealthy, and professionals—including lawyers, judges, doctors, and therapists—to help bring meaningful change and create a better future for our youth and young adults. My spouse and I have proudly fostered over 43 young men and women in a safe therapeutic non-judgmental home for four and a half years, caring for children facing challenges like ADHD, bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety, PTSD, diabetes, and sickle cell disease. Many come from backgrounds of abuse, drug dependency, abandonment, and sex trafficking. We treated each young person as our own, providing unique experiences—supporting them in sports, enjoying fine dining, shopping sprees, and travel—to inspire them to overcome trauma, stay in school, and pursue their dreams. We invested in their education by attending IEP meetings and promoting academic and athletic excellence. Our involvement in school events and regular communication with teachers helped many improve from failing grades to A's and B's, along with better behavior and reduced anxiety, stemming from the stable, loving environment we created. There exists an overlooked community of gifted young adults—specifically LGBTQ+ and homeless individuals aged 18-25 who have aged out of foster care. They need a safety net as they transition through the early parts of adulthood with encouragement, motivation, prayer, stability with shelter and essential resources like food, clothing, and transportation. As a former foster child being the oldest among nine siblings, I understand the challenges young people face. My journey has come full circle, and we’ve adopted a son, along with our daughter and grandson. My faith in Christ guides me, and I attribute my accomplishments to prayer and community support. I am dedicated to empowering the next generation with essential life skills and preparing them for the workforce through job readiness training, communication skills, and budgeting. With my event planning and project management skills, I collaborate with those eager to help through fundraising and charity events, generating funding for vital services like food, clothing, and housing for aged-out foster children facing homelessness.Together, we can drive meaningful change and create a better future for our youth.
