Product EngineerTrimble Jul 2015 - Dec 2017Auckland, New ZealandTo better align the needs of Loadrite’s product and manufacturing support within Trimble’s Civil Engineering and Construction division, my role changed to become a HCC Product Engineer. This provides me better access to the experience and resources of the other PE’s within the HCC division and another Product Engineer peer in Auckland. It also furthers the integration of Loadrite into Trimble’s structure and processes. I am still responsible for Loadrite’s Auckland factory support, and transferring Loadrite products to overseas CMs. -
Production Engineering LeadTrimble Loadrite Apr 2014 - Jul 2015AucklandPromoted to this role, and assigned two direct reports. I discovered my management style, and learned management techniques. With the Trimble acquisition, I had to adapt to new opportunities. With Trimble our products gained access to T1 and T2 CMs in China and Mexico, which have different manufacturing requirements compared to New Zealand. I was also able to leverage expertise within Trimble to save cost on the production setup for the L3190 Indicator, and access equipment like 3070 ICT testers.

Production Test EngineerActronic Jan 2012 - Apr 2014AucklandThis role involves maintaining existing production testers implemented in C#, LabVIEW and TestStand by my predecessors. I am also implementing a new production test systems using LabVIEW and TestStand, and PXI test equipment.I am developing testers for Actronic's newest indicator platform, which is running Win CE with the following interfaces - touch screen, WiFi, GPS, Ethernet, USB, CAN and Serial Ports, Digital IO, composite video and audio.Actronic Responsibilities: • Finding and fixing issues in legacy production test software. The software is written in LabVIEW and TestStand. It interfaces to slaves that exercise the UUTs via RS 485 or CAN bus. • Analysing current test software to verify if it is implemented correctly. This involved inspecting the TestStand sequence, LabVIEW code and documenting the implementation in Confluence. I presented the findings to the team.• Validating production test hardware. • Liaising with technicians and service agents regarding analysis of test results.• Analysing production test data to ensure the test system and production is under control.• Implementation of new production test fixtures, from specification, design, fabrication, software development and validation.• Currently transitioning from reactive and testing quality in, to proactive Statistical Process Control.Achievements at Actronic: • Specified an upgrade to an oven test system that would reduce cycle time, while increasing poll rate by 6 times. • I have improved the communications robustness by 20 times for the G7 oven test.• Keeping existing test systems up and running.

Senior Manufacturing EngineerWellington Manufacturing Group Singapore Feb 2010 - Dec 2011SingaporeTransferred to Wellington's Singapore factory to provide production support.Responsibilities at Wellington:• Remotely supported production in Asia, minimising down time, by using Skype, remote desktop and analysing test data to identify the root cause of product and tester issues. I then proposed solutions to engineering colleagues before implementing improvements. • Troubleshooting issues in factories in Malaysia, China and Indonesia with unfamiliar and often dated equipment, for example:o A colleague and I were at the factory for a new build and discovered over a day that their in-circuit tester (ICT) was partially damaging an amplifier IC that controlled the microcontroller’s reset line.o In a couple of hours I identified a sub-system power supply on a product that was unable to supply enough power for its intended use – this issue caused random resets of the product on the production tester, which was making debugging challenging.• Set up laboratory area in Singapore Office. • Engineering OSH representative and then OSH Chairman for 1 year. Rewrote health and safety manual. Appointed OSH Champion for Singapore factory.Achievements at Wellington:• Designed, implemented and maintained the majority of Wellington’s functional testers that tested over 1 million motors and electronic controllers in 2011, I achieved this by planning ahead, focusing on the most important areas and dedication. -
Electronics EngineerWellington Drive Technologies Ltd Nov 2001 - Dec 2011In 2002 Wellington was completing its first energy efficient, microcontroller based, electronically commutated motor. Since then Wellington has grown into an international manufacturing company, with outsourced production in Asia. I worked on a large number of different projects, gaining broad electronics experience, notably test equipment for laboratory and production use. Self managed workload. In 2010 I have been based in the Singapore for 6 months with the Wellington Manufacturing group.• Designed, implemented and maintained functional testers that tested over 650,000 motors and electronic controllers in 2009 alone. • Remotely supported production in Asia, minimising down time.• Implemented and maintained laboratory test equipment, for example, designed the hardware and software (in LabVIEW) for interfacing to a Magtrol Dynamometer and a range of serial Power Meters. The software has auto test modes, real time graphs, overload warnings and implemented logging to Excel using Excel’s ActiveX interface. • Mentored summer interns and a student doing a final year project.• Visited factories in Malaysia and China to support new product builds.• Engineering OSH representative and OSH Chairman for 1 year. Rewrote health and safety manual.
