This book presents a lesson for today about how to create opportunities where none may seem to exist, and offers a perspective on how African Americans in today's corporate environment can benefit from the efforts of those who paved the way a generation ago.Now that I am older [and somewhat wiser!] I wanted to share my story, and offer encouragement to anyone who may be feeling that they can't survive in the corporate jungle. Many of the people of my generation paved the way, not by eliminating racism, I don't think that will happen any time soon, but by making the road smoother. I talk about several specific instances where my career could have been destroyed, had I elected to roll over and accept the treatment being dished out, I refused and went on to make lemonade out of the lemons.This book hopes to stimulate discussion around the issues of how racist behaviors affect everyone involved, not just the targets but the perpetrators as well.
