Transport individuals with developmental disabilities, including one in a wheelchair, to/from the socialization center in Elyria. Many individuals live in group homes operated by REM; others live with parents or other family members. I assist at the center as needed.

Slot national and international stories, edit local and wire copy, design pages (including A1 and the "section" page - local & state) ... help keep the newsroom running smoothly. Also proof the pages of other designers.

Team lead for several upstate New York daily newspapers. I lay out 12-15 pages each night for two daily newspapers, and once a week for a weekly; and proof 25-40 pages for other designers (on average) each shift.

Assist General Motors Corp. dealership employees as they order vehicles, track their shipping status by truck or rail across the United States, Canada and Mexico, solve problems with customer incentives, and help certified pre-owned vehicle dealerships with certification issues. It's fast-paced, solution-driven and customer friendly. I'm at or near the top in every evaluation metric the company uses. I worked on the phones for a year, and now do the same job as a web chat agent.Previously, I answered inbound questions from customers and inputted applications as an expert on a state appliance rebate program; I was the best multi-tasker in the office. Before that, I worked on a high-energy automotive customer satisfaction survey; I was consistently among the top performers with this survey. At the same time, I conducted an opinion survey on a wide range of topics.

Worked with In-Design, Quark and Firefox. Made split-second on-deadline decisions daily for more than 20 years. Worked under eight bosses - news editor, metro editor, three assistant metro editors, photo editor, graphics editor and editor - and gave each of them just what they wanted every day. Did more fact-checking than most reporters did. Laid out metro, wheels, business and weekend wallet sections, and numerous special sections including wedding, agriculture, home and garden, Bavarian Festival, and things to do across mid-Michigan.

General assignment, business and features reporter. Also edited business briefs - dozens of them each week. I wrote and edited those biz briefs my entire Saginaw News career - nearly 24 years.

I learned the entire newspaper business from the ground up. I reported stories, edited copy, did layout and headline writing, took photographs and developed film, sold advertisements and even delivered the paper to newsstands!
