Attained in conjunction with PhD training (2009-13), outlined in Education section. • Critical thinking and Problem-solving: Ability to take a broad overview, to recognise potential limitations in my projects, whilst having a hands-on approach to study the possible problem by designing appropriate tests that assimilate information from disparate sources. This data was evaluated through statistical analysis to support conclusions and implement a successful resolution.• Project management and Organisation: Managed all phases of my PhD and fellowship from start to finish including planning, executing, critically reviewing and multi-tasking projects, whilst anticipating problems and setting realistic deadlines. I have also learnt to remain flexible to changing situations and prioritise more urgent or important tasks that arise. • Statistical analysis: Collated and handled large data sets i.e. those output after an experiment. Proficiency in multiple statistical tests (e.g. t-test, ANOVA and correlation/regression, plus non-parametric equivalents and post hoc tests) to evaluate data into meaningful information which can be summarised in a report. • Written communication: Produced professional standard writing (including figure generation), from concise abstracts (<1 page) and reports to a detailed thesis (>300 pages). Many of these articles and papers have been published in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.• Oral and Graphical presentation: Communicated my work across a range of platforms from international conferences (e.g. European Congress of Immunology) to local seminars, via talks and posters, over different lengths of time and to audiences of varying size and experience. • Interpersonal, Leadership and Teaching: Initiated group and individual interactions in formal and informal situations promoting collaboration, feedback and motivation. Mentored new PhD and undergraduate students in the overall planning and day-to-day running of their projects.
Research Assistant
• Responsibilities similar to Research Fellowship above.• Work habits and Self discipline: Worked independently and in a team, in several diverse roles. Collegially debated topics whilst participating in group dialogue. Demonstrated I can learn quickly, work under pressure and meet deadlines with limited supervision. Pride myself on my drive to succeed and self-motivation.
