- Six-week summer research grant with the Department of Economics and professor Adrien Matray as a faculty advisor - Independent research topic focused on assessing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on asset-backed securities markets, particularly for: auto loans (subprime and prime) and CMBS (commercial mortgage-backed securities)- Data was aggregated and cleaned to analyze developments in delinquencies, charge-offs, and repossessions overtime for individual loans- Key insights for auto ABS: auto loan distress has been mitigating through forbearance but significant risk remains once these forbearance effects recede in Fall 2020- Key insights for CMBS: the pandemic environment caused significant stress among commercial properties, particularly in retail and lodging. As of Fall 2020, delinquency levels in CMBS remain far above pre-pandemic levels - Final result was completing a white-paper of relevant findings shared with the Economics Department
