About William Sams
I’m currently studying economics at East Tennessee State University. I also started my own small business, TriStar Trains (a dba of my LLC, Lancer Capital Group), which combines my interests in model trains and business. During high school, I was a member of the Air Force JROTC program which had a profound impact on my life. I wanted to find a way to give back to the organization that meant so much to me which led me to create the Lancer Capital Group Foundation. My board and I are committed to supporting local JROTC through fundraising, scholarships, and professional support. After college I am interested in pursuing opportunities in government, real estate, and rail through Lancer Capital Group while maintaining my position at our Foundation. I thankfully have many opportunities to get to learn more about each every day. I believe that the most important values to an individual and society are honesty, integrity, kindness, and responsibility. My true passion is learning how I can help drive growth in East Tennessee and Tennessee as a whole. I deeply care about striving to create a fantastic environment of economic development, financial stability, education stability, and passenger rail development in our great state. Giving back to my community and state is very important to me.

I am responsible for leading an eight member board that manages the foundation’s scholarship program, including the Lancer Capital Group JROTC College Scholarship, awarded to outstanding cadets pursuing higher education, collaboration with local leaders, educators, and donors to ensure the viability and success of JROTC programs in Greeneville and surrounding areas, fundraising efforts, budget oversight, and allocation of financial resources to provide critical support for JROTC unit activities and cadet development, and advocation for leadership development, community service, and education as key components of the foundation’s work.
