About William Schaper (He/Him/His)
I launched my career based on my fascination with other cultures, languages, travel, and my belief that we are better when we collaborate to achieve big things. My work as an international educator was inspired by my own experiences studying abroad in Chile and teaching at schools in Spain. The people I met from all over the world allowed me to develop a global perspective and greater empathy for people from all walks of life. When I returned to the U.S., I jumped at the opportunity to join the team of an early private-public partnership between Auburn University and Shorelight Education to recruit and serve students from all over the world. During my career I have become an astute manager, sensitive to cultural differences and the necessity for diversity. I have honed my relationship-building skills and have an appreciation for varying viewpoints to be able to resolve issues across diverse groups of stakeholders.I’ve been lucky to have traveled throughout my career to Spain, China, and India where I’ve taught and represented Shorelight partners to international recruiters who send their students to American universities.
