This short-term placement was to redevelop, redesign and deploy the http://notify.lafd.org/redflag/ website to be more user friendly, intuitive, multi-lingual and, most importantly, section 508 accessible. This site informs the public and collects contact information for those who wish to be notified of when a 'RedFlag' day occurs. A 'RedFlag' day is when the weather conditions exist to create the possibility of a brush fire incident. The streets that are indicated as too narrow for a rescue engine to pass, while there are cars parked on it, go into a 'no parking - ticket/tow' status. We used ColdFusion on the back end to control the database and dynamic parts of the site. The multi-lingual portion of the site is driven by ColdFusion , and has been translated professionally to reduce in-concise 'dynamic real-time' translation issues.Having a 4 month deadline, we were able to complete the full site with redesign in less than 2 months.Utilizing the validator at 'http://siteimprove.com/', we were able to achieve a 'AAA' status, ensuring that anyone who needs to access this crucial information would be able to access it with minimal difficulty
