As a Senior Consultant to Washington, DC's Department of General Services, my job is to: Create, enact, and champion sustainability initiatives for Washington DC’s Department of General Services (DGS). Such initiatives include a Smart Building Network, data-driven building re-tunings, regulatory and legislative compliance, recycling and composting programs, LED retrofits, solar PPAs, and Net-Zero buildings.Provide strategic guidance for DGS’s utility management team. Help green the source of energy, reduce consumption, and pay bills, at scale: scores of DC agencies, hundreds of buildings, thousands of accounts and millions of dollars.Collaborate with other public agencies and other stakeholders to drive a city-wide sustainability agenda.Design, deploy, and manage DGS’s Smart Buildings Network, which uses cutting-edge building control technology, data analysis, and custom dashboard visualizations to improve portfolio comfort and energy efficiency. Ensure the quality of utility billing, electricity interval, and building automation system data flows.Implement sophisticated energy market and infrastructure programs at building and portfolio level, including Demand Response, Intelligent Load Control, and the Volttron energy infrastructure platform.Provide ad hoc consulting services and policy expertise to DGS’s Sustainability and Energy team in a wide range of areas, including commodity purchasing, public outreach, and implementation planning.

We use innovative policy and technology, transparency, data, and shoe-leather outreach to make Washington, DC (or your city!) the cleanest, most energy efficient city in the United States. We are involved at every level: policy design; green energy deal formation; bill management; cost-responsive purchasing strategies; gathering and using granular, real-time building data; and using that data to design and implement sophisticated, customized demand-side programs.As the head of the Smart Buildings Division, I lead efforts to deploy the largest municipal network of smart buildings in the country, and then use data from that network to help improve building performance and energy efficiency. However, we are a small team, and much of my time is spent coordinating a brilliant team that tackles problems spanning the entire energy policy universe.

As a volunteer organizer with The Action, I organized and managed volunteer staff in “earned media” states. Additionally, I led an effort to conceive, organize and execute an earned media event in Richmond, VA in order to support the President's agenda in negotiations on the "Fiscal Cliff".

I provided the Obama for America Voter Protection Team with quick-response legal research, analysis, and editing. I researched and prepared a memo outlining strategies to detect and mitigate "Granny Farming" - the political exploitation of senior citizens. I collaborated with the Voter Protection Team on the Nevada, Colorado, New Hampshire, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Virginia, Iowa, and Pennsylvania Voter Protection Volunteer Handbooks, providing legally-backed analysis to support those protecting voters' rights in the field on election day.

At ARPC, I primarily provided ad-hoc strategic insight, research, and analysis to a diverse range of ARPC projects. In addition to these rapidly changing daily duties, I designed and monitored the event-driven "News Tripwire" and provided ongoing news briefings and related strategic insights to senior leadership. Such real-time insights were consolidated and analyzed into deeper understanding and delivered via the "ARPC Emerging Events Bulletin", which focused on legal and political developments on a more macro scale. Finally, I managed ARPC's business development database on multiple platforms, including Salesforce.com and Highrise.com.

As one of the most highly rated LSAT instructors in the Mid-Atlantic region, I was chosen to train other LSAT instructors.

At the UNF, I had many tasks, including: compiling and editing all UNF activity for their semi-annual "Board Book; writing and editing conference and issue summaries for the Secretary General's High-Level Panel on Threats, Challenges, and Change; and providing research and editing support for academic works on a variety of topics.
