I've accepted a contract through year end with a large financial company. We're in the design phase for a new set of features for their AWS environment.

Working with multiple product teams supporting both web and device based SAAS solution on AWS. We are continuing to modernize our technology stack. Transitioned the teams to a Kanban workflow style for assignments, and introduced a new DevOps role for handling product deployments. Provided input and was the primary author of the SDLC documentation used to gain SOC-2 compliance for the company. Coordinated a remote development team based in Buenos Aires, Argentina working with the vendor Total Performance Consulting.

Helped guide a great team working with C#, Angular and VB.NET. Using TFS for build automation and work tracking. Our agile team worked to meet the requirements of an array of financial software products. Working remote in the age of Covid, but missing my standing desk at the office.

As a Full Stack Software Engineer at Hunter Industries I was assigned to the team working to create a new solution for managing thousands of sprinklers at golf courses. We have a flat organization in software development and use Agile practices, TDD & Kanban. The project centered on migrating the capabilities of an old Visual Basic .NET 2.0 application to newer technologies. Portions of the application migrated to .NET 4+ while integrating a Web interface for key capabilities. Our development was done using mob (enhanced pair programming) techniques. The git repository leveraged a fully automated testing and deployment pipeline (CI/CD) for all components.

I've joined the team at Hunter Industries. My current role is as part of the Software Engineering Mob. Hunter practices a team based approach to software development where groups of engineers gather with 72" video monitors and edit code as a team. It's described as "Mob Programming". Seems fun so far.

Responsible for both the corporate and restaurant systems. Oversaw Rubio's transition from a Level-2 PCI vendor to an audited Level-1 PCI compliant vendor. Implemented a Point to Point Encryption (P2Pe) and tokenization solution for all credit card transactions. Completed the roll out of a new Point of Sale System to Rubio's ~190 restaurant locations. Created new custom integrations to allow Rubio's existing business processes to consume the new POS data. In addition implementing changes in core corporate systems relating to office automation, upgrading the Windows Domain, disaster recovery, business continuity while moving to a fully virtualized server environment with cloud based components.

My job focuses on managing the development and system admin team members. I handle tasks related to Rubio's IT solutions. Responsibilities include leading all IT development at Rubio’s as well as long term Data Warehouse architecture and systems and hardware management.

I taught several Visual Basic and (Application Lifecycle Management) ALM classes. The last was in January of 2012.

I was awarded as a Microsoft Most Valuable Professional for 8 years. This award is given by Microsoft to individuals who use their knowledge of key Microsoft products and technologies to assist others in the community. My award was related to the Visual Developer specialty and was tied to my authoring and related community activities.

I was an author on the following titles: Professional Commerce Server 2000, Professional Visual Basic .NET, Professional Visual Basic .NET 2002 continuing Professional Visual Basic .NET books through 2012 (approx 12 books in total)

Worked as a principal engineer for InterKnowlogy in Carlsbad. Worked on a variety of projects over the course of my time with InterKnowlogy.
