In my role as a Constituency Assistant to Paula Sherriff MP, I provided support to both the Member of Parliament – in her role within the constituency, Parliament and as the Shadow Minister for Mental Health – and constituents. - My main responsibilities focused on upon policy research and analysis, responding to policy enquiries and managing digital content. - I completed policy research, wrote parliamentary and public speeches, produced briefings for the Parliamentary Labour Party related to the Member’s frontbench portfolio, briefed the Member on policy issues and responded to policy enquiries. - I worked alongside the Senior Communications Officer on policy matters, the production of press releases and digital content, as well as administrating the Member’s social media accounts. - I also completed casework, supporting residents with any issues by contacting third parties, including government departments, on their behalf to resolve a great variety of issues.

Following her election, I provided support to Paula Sherriff MP and her constituents, based in her constituency office in Dewsbury. - I met with and supported residents on issues that they wished to raise and liaised with third parties, including government departments, on their behalf to resolve a great variety of issues across our large and diverse constituency. - I responded to public enquiries, completed research into issues as required, drafted communications and organised public campaigns on behalf of the Member of Parliament. - I attended meetings with, and advised, Paula Sherriff MP.- I worked alongside colleagues to provide them with support, gain experience in a variety of roles, and to develop my skills and knowledge base.
