William Sneddon Email and Phone Number
I joined 5KBW in October 2018 as a first six pupil, having previously acquired a range of specialist experience in criminal law. Prior to commencing pupillage, I spent a year working for a boutique law firm in Malaysia, drafting submissions that were instrumental in achieving the exoneration of death row inmates charged with either murder or drug trafficking; in defence of the appointment of the Chief Justice of Malaysia; and challenging the constitutionality of the draconian “Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012”, which provided the police with the power to detain individuals, without bail, until the conclusion of all their criminal proceedings (including appeals). I also spent 9 months in the US assisting with the investigation and preparation of capital defence cases. In addition to my Criminal Law background, I also have a range of Civil Law experience, having spent a year working as a County Court Advocate. During this time, I took instructions in matters such as: mortgage possessions; landlord and tenant disputes; bankruptcy hearings; infant settlements; applications to set aside default judgments; and small claims hearings.I am now available for instruction to prosecute and defend in the Youth Court, Magistrates’ Court, and Crown Court. I am a grade 1 prosecutor.
