Education Director [Arts Education Specialist]
CurrentOperated by the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County Georgia.Duties include:Plans, develops, conducts and evaluates programs, events, activities and camps. Supervises, trains, makes hiring recommendations and evaluates assigned employees, volunteers, and interns; handles all related concerns, directs work assignments, disciplines and counsels workers when necessary.Volunteer coordinator for the Arts Center's programs and events. Manages applications, inquiries, background checks, etc.Oversees program instructors and handles contract agreements with contract labor. Oversees the 7 professional art studios and the children's wing. Manages various budget lines. Oversees the purchasing of supplies and materials for the education department.Prepares specific objectives for programs and special events, and develops a plan of action; evaluates and adjusts programs as necessary; maintains records for division/department reporting and assessment.Addresses needs of program participants with disabilities, and seeks higher-level assistance as needed.Prepares an annual budget proposal for programs, events and/or projects; may assist with the development of the budget proposal.Coordinates volunteer needs, and assists with recruitment and training for programs and special events. Performs outreach and other educational programs outside of the facility.Assists with the management of daily operations of the facility; sometimes performing the duties of the facility supervisor when needed. Serves as department liaison to community groups and organizations.Responds to citizen inquires and complaints and addresses, solves, or forwards complaints to appropriate personnel.Teaches a variety of classes to all ages (children and adults). Serves as the summer camp director. Assists with special events like Harvest Fest, Holiday Open House, Lickskillet Artists Market, Martin Luther King Jr. Day Festival, Juried Show Reception, Etc.
