I have crisis counselling experience, and many years of cross-industry experience working for and with diverse workforces and clients. I am calm, compassionate, and excellent and experienced at building rapport quickly. My supervisors will attest that I am adept at learning new skills. On placement with the Adult Acute Unit at Grampians Mental Health and Wellbeing Services in Ballarat, I am currently advocating for the best interests of the patient within the Mental Health setting. I am making referrals and liaising with external support agencies to access to needed supports. As a telephone counsellor at Lifeline I have developed crisis assessment and support skills. As a human rights lawyer I represented CALD refugee claimants before the Refugee Status Appeals Authority. In my social work placements I have been proactive at engaging with patients, families, carers, and referral services.I continue to build my counselling skills toolbox while on placement through AASW micro-courses, including Trauma Informed Practice. I have a current WWCC and Victoria Police check, as well as up-to-date Covid and flu vaccinations, and am a Permanent Resident of Australia. I live in Ballarat but am willing to relocate in 2024.I prioritise the well being of my family, our dog, and myself.
