I provide engineering consulting and training services to a number of large industrial and technology clients as they strive to gain new insight into their equipment and processes. I also provide training to organizations wishing to bring their entire workforce up to speed on the power of IoT and what it can do to transform their businesses.From 2015-2018 I was a Research Scientist with Georgia Tech's Research Network Operations Center (RNOC), a unit of the Institute for People and Technology (IPaT). I led RNOC's Internet of Things (IoT) research efforts, engaging hundreds of undergrad and graduate students each year, teaching mobile app development, user-centered design, innovation, and entrepreneurship. I also advised and mentored individual students and project teams on an ongoing basis. Further, I serve as Vice Chair of the Standards and Management Working Group for CDAIT, the Center for Development and Application of Internet of Things Technologies at Georgia Tech.Through RNOC, GT Professional Education, and the GT College of Computing, I was (and continue to be) a frequent teacher and guest speaker on IoT. My deep history in embedded software development, telecom/networking, and breadth of commercial experience position me uniquely to observe and understand the trends, impacts, and risks of IoT, at both macro and micro levels.As a result of my engineering and academic work, and as a former small business owner, I am skilled in requirements analysis, project management, smart cities, low power wide-area networking (LPWAN / LoRaWAN), and course/curriculum development. I enjoy developing IoT projects using platforms such as Raspberry Pi, Beaglebone, Arduino, Teensy, and ESP8266/ESP32, and others -- both for clients and for projects around the home.
