Proving Test Engineer in Global Engine Development where I assisted in the facilitation of in-machine engine validation and verification for the Internal Machine Reliability Growth program. Responsibilities include test work planning & facilitation, test plan construction, cold climate test planning and coordination for Sweden 2013 test work, and also liaising with various team leads to help fulfill their test objectives. Specialist skills learnt throughout my time in the Proving Test facility involve:-Data acquisition and manipulation-ECU programming and reflash-Project planning and coordination-Engine failure mode training and utilisationWithin the Proving Test team I was also asked to take part in the 8 week cold climate test programme in Northern Sweden just outside the artic circle. In challenging and demanding environment test work needed to carried out efficiently whilst dynamic problem solving was key as we overcame hurdles within the environment and machine capabilities.

Strategic Cost Management team (SCM). My day to day role was to manage and implement cost reduction projects. Projects included re-design, resource and negotiation of components across the Caterpillar/Perkins product. I headed a substanital cost saving project utilising Powdered Metal (Sintering techniques), presenting a number original parts now to be produced with the powdered metal prcoess to the value of £500,000. Work included:-Identifying cost reduction opportunities through events, own observation, shop floor walks and supplier visits-Commercially and technically (communicating with buyer, supplier and engineering) evaluate assigned opportunities and develop business case for project justification and business submission-Deliver project through completion whilst adhering to company processes-Support larger category projects-Produce should cost models using PCM software-Visit suppliers to gain an understanding of manufacturing processes and gather cost reduction ideas-Attend supplier negotiations and business presentationsProject management & project prioritisation were key learning aspects while in SCM.
