In college, our insurance classes taught us Property insurance, General Liability, Worker's Comp, Life Insurance, Employee Benefits, etc., but what it didn't teach was Cyber Liability, or insurance for data. Through internships, interviews and my own research, I learned more about the space and the ever-changing industry of cyber insurance. Since 2016, I've brokered and specialized primarily in Cyber, Technology E&O, Media E&O and Miscellaneous Professional insurance.Staying current in the market and placing the insurance is the name of the game, but a large part of my job is producing new partnerships; educating existing partners and insureds on the nuances of a cyber insurance policy; identifying specific risk exposures; negotiating coverage and premium with underwriters; marketing alternative products and solutions to address emerging risks; and being a support line in the event a ransomware virus attacks our insured's computer systems, for example. I enjoy connecting with industry peers and past classmates, but am especially interested in perspectives from those in the technology/blockchain, healthcare, media, supply chain, professional, and financial institutions communities.
