For the last three years, I’ve served as a change agent in the reengineering of the operational and financial infrastructure for Valley County Health System. I oversee organizational and strategic vision, facility operations, policy development, and initiatives ensuring exceptional patient care. It is my job to review and monitor the operating and capital budgets and direct and monitor expenditures for all facilities. I ensure operational objectives are achieved, procedures are consistent, management is accountable, and quality patient care is achieved and maintained between facilities. Proven Success• Developed regional strategic planning process based on an 18-month timetable.• Re-opened and established new relationships locally, regionally, and state-wide to improve hospital and VCHS diminished reputation and credibility issues held for more than 14 years.• Stabilized broken physician relationships in primary and secondary service areas to re-establish vital referral and admitting opportunities.• Doubled the number of physicians by recruiting two rural physicians, five new specialty physicians and numerous mid-level healthcare professionals, and established nine new specialty clinics.• In first 8 months, reduced turnover rate from 30% to 13.4% through open and transparent communication and personal engagement. • In the process of establishing new LEAN management principles for entire VCHS System.• Responded and developed RFP to seek partner to purchase LTC. This transaction would yield to hospital financials $1 million a year benefit.• Selected and negotiated LTC sale to be closed on June 30, 2015. New partner will transform LTC to skilled care facility by October 2015.• Workers’ compensation mod currently rated at 0.84 decreased from approximately 2.5 in 2011, following implementation of aggressive risk management initiatives.
