Duty Description:Provides the commander with all-source intelligence assessments and estimates at the tactical and operational levels dealing with enemy capabilities, intentions, vulnerabilities, effects of terrain and weather on operations, while predicting enemy courses of action. Directs tasking of intelligence collection assets; ensures proper dissemination of intelligence information and products; manages interrogation operations of detained persons; coordinates with counterintelligence and operational security operations.Commander's Evaluation:1LT Chesser as the Battalion Intelligence Officer provided superb and accurate reports during his nine-month deployment to Afghanistan. He was giving the opportunity to be given the lead for the Intel Fusion Cell for all joint services intelligence sections and civilian agencies at Shindand Air Base. His understanding of the insurgents pattern of life within the base security zone help shaped the battle space by providing detail intelligence summary (INTSUM) reports and assisted the Battalion Operations Section in preparing future combat mission with Afghan, Coalition and US Forces. 1LT Chesser's mentorship provided refresher training on key intelligence courses and topics that proved to be vital to the overall success of battalion's mission. 1LT Chesser established a lasting rapport with the Persistent Threat Detection System operators by training patrols in emplacing Enhance Underground Sensors in high traffic insurgent locations within the base security zone that supported our security mission. He also worked in concert with the Battalion Operations Section in providing mission analysis for the several compliance inspections that were conducted on the multiple Afghan civilian work forces that resided on Shindand Air Base.

Duty Description:Platoon Leader for Bravo Company, 56th Battalion Special Troops Battalion. Responsibilities include the training of HUMINT personnel and supply discipline, training coordination within the unit, all platoon level maintenance scheduling and repair order issues. Also responsible for the maintenance of all MTOE and additional equipments worth in excess of 500,000 dollars. Responsible for coordination and planning support for the entire platoon’s training exercises and missions. Commander's Evaluation:2LT Chesser is a very strong officer whose performance has continually improved during this rating period. As a Platoon Leader he ensured accountability, maintenance, and readiness of 4 vehicles and organizational property in excess of 500,000 dollars. He led a group of human intelligence collectos that prepared human intelligence updates for the Battalion and Company leadership. He also excelled at a Brigade level War Fighter Exercise when he served as the White Cell BN XO as well as an Actionable Intelligence Officer during the two week training period. He earned special recognition for his effort and skills as an Intelligence Officer.
