William is the executive director of Benefit Chicago, a $100 million impact investment fund targeting the social enterprise sector in the six-county Chicagoland region. Will’s responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day operations, setting the strategic vision, working with investors, investees, community organizations, and the media.

Charged with developing a set of policies and strategies that look to leverage the strengths of a premier academic and research institution, to assist communities throughout the Mid-Southside of Chicago by influencing economic growth through improving health outcomes, supporting strong local school options, attracting public and private investment, encouraging and supporting businesses to hire locally, deepening our engagement with the arts and cultural institutions lifting their importance as a key contributor towards community vibrancy, supporting research that advances our understanding of evidence-based interventions to address crime at a systemic level and advancing campus developments that contribute to the sustainability of a shared communities.

Responsible for the overall day to day implementation of a $169 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act under the City of Chicago's Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP). My duties included working with the City of Chicago to establish, direct, maintain, and plan the community/economic development activities of the NSP. I worked closely with the City of Chicago's Department Housing and Economic Development, developers, appraisers, real estate brokers, community organizations and lenders to ensure the success of the program, which was to help stabilize communities through the purchase, rehab and re-occupying of foreclosed and vacant real estate owned (REO) properties.
