Willie has had a multifaceted, and multi-decade, career in the software industry, with staff and consulting positions that have included software architecture and development, project management, client liaison, sales support, user training and coding. And executive management. For the duration of his career he has designed, developed and coded novel user interfaces spanning pharmaceutical, reinsurance, healthcare, online retail, content management, enterprise management, historical research, and real estate -- to name a few. Financial services came relatively late when, as a retail options trader, he identified a major gap in the toolsets available for this domain. He has managed development teams in-house, and has engaged, contracted and managed teams of offshore developers.By the time the internet exploded in 1996, he had already developed a large body of interactive systems including corporate touchscreen kiosks, multimedia learning systems, medical literature search engines and tools to support in-house R&D -- all for the pharmaceutical industry. This included a Pfizer-sponsored promotional disk/simulator to coincide with the launch of Lipitor. These projects included teams of content producers, who built on top of a suite of authoring tools that Willie developed. The available tools at the time were inadequate.He founded Data Based Media, Inc. in 1999 as an umbrella for client project work, as well as independent ventures such as ChainSweeper.
