About Willis Rich
"Do what you love, and you’ll never work one day in your life.” This is exactly why I can't see doing anything else then to fly airplanes over Gods grand earth. I currently live in Saratoga Springs, Utah. I was born and raised in Ogden, Utah and spent much of my time riding my bike in the shadows of Ben Lomond peak. I was a Weber Warrior in high school where I played trumpet in the Weber High Symphony, Jazz, and Marching band. I also swam and played water polo through high school, something I very much enjoyed. I am proud to be a Utah State University Alumni with a bachelor's degree in Aviation Technology Professional Pilot 4-year degree. I was a flight instructor at Utah State University a little over a year. After instructing I was blessed to have career advancement opportunity at Sanborn Mapping, flying the Cessna-206 Stationair. While there I conducted aerial survey operations all over the United States. Since November of 2015 I have been flying for SkyWest Airlines and its been an awesome time!I am proud to be a Captain and Line Check Airman at SkyWest Airlines. Currently I operate the CRJ 200/700/900 for SkyWest Airlines on behalf of Delta Air Lines as Delta Connection and United Airlines as United Express. I am based out of the newly renovated Salt Lake City airport. I provide the best in safety culture and customer service by being personable with passengers, approachable to flight attendants and representing SkyWest as the best and most professional airline in the industry. I am an avid family man. In 2011 I married Aubrie Rich, the woman of my dreams. She and I have 3 children, with one on the way. I spend the majority of my time with them when I’m home from work. If I had other hobbies, they would include guitar, piano or anything musical, racquetball, fishing, biking, doing yard work, and listening to self-building Podcasts and books. My religion plays a huge part in my life. I volunteer a lot of my time to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have taught the men’s group from 2010-2017. I served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from 2007-2009 in the Birmingham Alabama area. There I taught Christian values via door to door and street contacting. I have contributed 10% of my income to the Church since I was eight years old to use for humanitarian work all around the world. I believe I try to the best of my ability to live as the Savior did.
Listed skills include Piloting, Airlines, Aircraft, Research, and 15 others.

A220 Simulator Instructor
I deliver world class instruction in the A220 simulator and flight training devices to pilots hired to fly the A220 for Breeze Airways.
Line Check Airman Crj
As a SkyWest Line Check Airman I uphold the standard of safety in my every action. I try my hardest to provide a good example and to be a mentor to pilots at SkyWest. I provide Line Checks and Initial operating experience on the CRJ aircraft. It’s my pleasure to give back all I can to this fine establishment that is SkyWest.
Captain Crj
After flying the ERJ-175 I had the opportunity to upgrade to the CRJ as a Captain. I took the transition very seriously as it is a huge responsibility to take on. Everyone is looking up to you. Since my transition I can say that my best flying has been in the left seat as a captain. I have had some of the best first officers and crew imaginable. This is my dream job, no matter what company I work for. I provide the best customer experience at SkyWest Airlines by taking the best care in my crew and passengers. As a captain I take great pride in being a part of one the the airline industreast leading operation in the world. "With nearly 14,000 aviation professionals operating more than 2,300 daily flights, SkyWest Airlines connects millions of passengers each month to 258 destinations across North America." -SkyWest Facts Page Out of Salt Lake City, Utah, I am pleased to be part of Delta Connection operation.
First Officer Erj-175
Being a first officer on the ERJ-175 was so much fun! I absolutely lost it to the shiny-new-jet-syndrome. It was a joy to have the opportunity to fly an advanced aircraft with auto throttles, speed controls and an amazing autopilot suite. I was based in LAX from February 2017 and was awarded SLC in March 2018. While SLC was a new base I had a unique experience of helping new captains transition from the CRJ. I was a coaching first officer if you will. It was a lot of fun!
First Officer Crj
As a first officer I assisted the Captain in operating in the fast paced 121 world. It was my duty to ensure safety and efficiency in operations as well as providing excellent customer service to our mainline partners. and their customers. I played a huge part in helping SkyWest be the Airline of Choice and meet company goals.
Aerial Survey Pilot
This was one of the funniest and hardest jobs I have ever had. It was wonderful. I flew the Cessna 206 for Sanborn from July to November of 2015 as time building stepping stone to get to my ultimate goal as flying for the airlines. I was issued and airplane and given a destination. It was up to me to get the aircraft to the project area. After flying the aircraft solo cross country to the destination I'd meet up with a camera operator and we would start "mowing the loan" in the sky. Depending on the kind of imagery we were collecting we'd fly anywhere from 2500ft AGL to 14,000ft MSL for about 8 hours a day if the weather was good. We would book our own rental cars, hotel, and pay for airplane maintenance with company issued credit card. I developed so much as a pilot here at Sanborn.
Flight Instructor
Flight instructing for USU was one of the best things I did to improve my piloting skill and professionalism. I found the teaching environment to be one of my favorite places to be. As a professional flight instructor I took great pride in mastering my craft to the best of my abilities to teach in such a way that my students knew they were learning the right things at the right times. Professionalism is a Key component as a flight instructor and I insured I set a best example to my pupils by being responsive to their needs.
