Operations Intern - Kaybob Edson
Calgary, Canada Area
Provided technical support to Operations Engineers and field personnel in the Edson, AB area. Optimized existing production, performed simulation and modeling, reviewed inactive wells and pipelines, and made recommendations on well site and gathering system compression. Collaborated with exploration, completions, and facilities personnel on new wells added to the operational base. • Increased earnings and enhanced profitability by performing over 130 well interventions. Each intervention required technical analysis, economic analysis, and implementation of a solution to mitigate production losses and interruption of cash flow. • Eliminated unnecessary cost through technical analysis and engineering recommendation. Investigated abnormally high pressure drop through the gas-to-gas heat exchanger at the Wolf Gas Plant. Determined the potential for operating cost savings by replacing the exchanger and reducing the compression requirements for the plant. • Improved development plans by determining the hydraulic constraints on the existing gathering system in the Kakwa area. Developed potential solutions to multiple development scenarios through construction of a dynamic model of the gathering system. • Ensured compliance with the Alberta Energy Regulator. Evaluated and made recommendations for over 70 pipelines which required abandonment, reactivation, or discontinuation. Organized annual pressure surveys to ensure downhole compliance.
