Mr. Jenkins is the former president and CEO of Exxon Mobil worldwide shipping and marine transportation affiliates. He is currently a director on the Board of the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), a director on the Board of the Coast Guard Foundation, where he was chairman from 2015 to 2021, and he has served on the Board of Overseers at the Hoover Institution since 2017. During his thirty-four-year career at Exxon Mobil he served in a series of technical, leadership and executive positions in exploration, production, development, refining, LNG manufacturing, risk management, and transportation, at various U.S. and international locations. During the merger of Exxon and Mobil he led the corporate transition team that designed, planned, and executed the merger of the worldwide shipping interests and marine transportation companies of both corporations. Following the merger, he was appointed to lead the consolidation and operation of one of the largest shipping fleets in the world. Previously, Mr. Jenkins served on the Marine Board of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine, the Secretary of Transportation's Advisory Board for the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and the Executive Committee of the International Oil Companies Marine Forum in London. In 2021 he was awarded the United States Coast Guard Distinguished Public Service Award and the Coast Guard Foundation Distinguished Leadership Award. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Northern Arizona University, a Master of Science degree in Finance from the University of Arizona, a Corporate Director Certificate from Harvard Business School, a Cybersecurity Governance Certificate from Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School of Management, and he has completed postgraduate programs at Stanford Graduate School of Business and Stanford College of Law in corporate leadership and governance.
