I have over 14 years’ experience in the financial services industry, spanning operations, credit underwriting, and risk analytics. With a knack for problem solving and a unique combination of technical and interpersonal skills, my passion lies in understanding stakeholder requirements, matching them with the best possible solution, and then keeping them moving in the right direction. I got hooked on the dynamic, fast-paced nature of financial services while working at Latitude. I started as a Customer Service Agent in 2005, and went on to manage and train underwriting teams across multiple portfolios in retail credit. After spending some time in operations, creating and implementing a number of significant improvements to Latitude’s operational policies and procedures, I moved into risk analysis for credit bureaus. After 13 years, the opportunity to disrupt the norm and work in a smaller, more agile business within New Zealand’s financial services industry was a huge draw card. At Happy Prime and most recently, Nomey, I work with some exceptional people who are passionate about doing things differently, and empowering New Zealand businesses and consumers through technology. In this industry, I believe it’s important to be as agile as possible; to move with changes whether it’s technological or legislative, and to strive for progress rather than perfection. My approach is to stay honest, nurture relationships at all levels, and focus on the big picture (not sweat the small stuff).Outside of work I’m a keen sports fan (cricket at the top of the list). I also travel as often as I can – rolling into Las Vegas every few years where my wife and I got married!Feel free to connect with me if you’re interested in risk, data or operations within financial services.
