Joined Federal Reserve Bank in 2014 as senior member of a new team dedicated to community and economic development (CED) in distressed markets throughout the Southeast. Led CED team's work in development finance, research and partnerships. Wrote and spoke regularly on topics ranging from public-private partnerships, tax credit finance, philanthropy, rural development, the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and the EB-5 immigrant investor program. Supported network of lenders, investors and developers seeking greater community economic development impact in the Southeast.

Fellowship for national leaders in population health, climate resilience, community development, urban planning, and community investment. Aim is to increase community investment in the Southeastern U.S.

Fellowship to travel and study public-private finance in rural China; including intensive travel, immersion and meetings with researchers, investors, lenders, government and corporate leaders across eight cities.

Progressive responsibility for leading University programs aimed at assisting distressed communities in North Carolina. Managed teams of faculty, staff and students focused on revitalization of buildings, neighborhoods, and community institutions. Published research in community economic development and delivered technical assistance in development finance to local government partners and developers. Helped to generate and raise $500,000 to $2.5M annually through contracts, grants and complex fee structures.

Carried out research and policy analysis related to asset-based strategies for combating poverty. Projects included analysis of state policy to support children’s savings accounts, best practices for dislocated workers, business retention for industries in a shifting economy, and advocacy strategies for workforce development policy.
