18 years of service to Baker Hughes working in various roles from engineering, product development, operations, technical sales and digital. My expertise is in data. Specifically, but not limited to, time series data generated by drilling rigs (surface) or drilling tools (real-time or memory based). The aggregation of data from multiple sources (the programmer), the interpretation of data (mechanical engineering and drilling background), and deriving insights/results (the problem solver).I can implement processes to store, retrieve, process large amounts of time series data. Think high frequency, gbs on gbs of data.

Technology Advisor, Associate Fellow, ResearchBaker Hughes Jun 2024 - PresentThe Woodlands, Texas, United States -
Senior Director - Digital Leader (Drill Bits) & Product ManagementBaker Hughes Jan 2022 - Jun 2024The Woodlands, Texas, United StatesDevelop and execute on Drill Bits product line digital vision. Create MRP/LRP to resource for sustaining and development projects. Lead 6 onsite SME/product owners and three offshore development teams. Support teams across the drill bits business including operations, supply chain and technology.Design Automation - Gemini Design Automation was selected as one of two projects to be named as ”Best Digital” for the Baker Hughes Technology Excellence Awards. Design Automation brought multiple technologies together to create a web based design request system that allows users to customize drill bit designs. Once the user has finished with their customization, the system will trigger the automation that creates the 3D models, manufacturing drawings, bill of materials and all required engineering data for manufacture. The system took a long manually intensive process and is capable of completing a design in as little as 4 minutes.Drill Bit Forensics - Mobile Web Application using augmented reality and the mobile phone camera for capturing forensic data. Using Computer vision (AI) for object detection and classification we have replaced an extensive manual inspection process with a new process that takes just minutes. Tech stack includes Azure Cloud, Kubernetes (aks), Angular-Typescript, .NET, Blob, Azure AI.Field Data Capture - Rearchitect our field data capture application for collecting drill bit performance. Build a data model that is aligned with the industry standard (WITSML). Create a user interface that drives efficency while capturing data. Integrate Microsoft Cognitive Services for optical character recognition (OCR) that allows the user to take a photo of the data provided by the rig and automatically populate our system. -

Memory drilling recorder data streamed directly to cloud instance for fast and reliable consumption by users.Introduce and develop a business intelligence algorithm that allows dynamic data access, multi-level aggregation, built in math and user definable charting.Support customers with the analysis of surface and downhole drilling data. Meet with customers to deliver sales proposals.Co-Author multiple SPE/IADC scientific papersTechnologiesAWS, Azure, Microsoft .NET, .Net Core, Docker, REST -
In-House Application EngineerBaker Hughes Jul 2016 - Apr 2018Greater Denver AreaIn-House drill bit optimization engineer in Ultra Petroleum's Denver Office. Focus on drill bit and drilling performance on the Pinedale Anticline.Applications engineering support for the Western US basins.- Expert at drilling data review using Pason/MyWells/WellData. Footbased data analysis for performance benchmarking, timebased data analysis for Failures.- Performance data review of large data sets using Spotfire and other analytical methods. - Technical sales provided to additional Rockies customers -
Rockies Engineering ManagerBaker Hughes Aug 2014 - Jul 2016Denver, CoProvide technical leadership for the Rockies area and by providing excellent support to our Rockies Clients.Develop our local engineering team through training, documenting lessons learned and communicating across our organization. The Rockies team is highly competitive and the team is in it to win. We are developing products and delivering performance improvements at a remarkable pace and the results are continued market share growth. -
Southeast Area Engineer - Arklatex District EngineerBaker Hughes Jan 2012 - Jul 2014Tyler, TexasProvide engineering support for Baker Hughes Drill Bit Systems – Southeast Area including North Texas, eTX, nLA and Miss; which, included approx 140 active rigs covering the Barnett, Haynesville, Cotton Valley and Woodbine.- Support marketing and sales by analyzing application data and providing product recommendations.- Benchmark product performance by creating performance reports, product recaps and run summaries.- Lead new product developments targeted for the district as new applications arise.- Frequently visit rig sites and customers to better understand our customers’ needs to deliver products that provide them value.- Manage engineering level repair quotes, repair cost vs. run count/book value/margin etc.- Perform field failure analysis as required.Significant Achievement - Independently and self motivated I developed an application for analyzing run and offset data to be used by Drill Bit System engineers. The interface allows for quick data visualization by graphing all drilling variables. It also provides a standardize format for performance reports, product recaps and run summaries; to create a single company brand. This new application replaces the archaic excel spreadsheet that had been used for over ten years. Active internal users exceeds 470+. -
Product Development And Product (Pdc) Design EngineerBaker Hughes Jan 2007 - Jan 2012The Woodlands, TxInitially my responsibilities included designing diamond drill bits used for drilling Oil & Gas wells. These bits varied in size up to 17-1/2” in diameter and are made from a composite material. NX 6 and Teamcenter were the chosen software. After a year of drill bit design, I was introduced to the programming env within NX and started developing automation tools; as well as continuing my design responsibilities. Applications I developed include specific engineering calculations, automated design check, and also UIs for existing applications. During this time, I developed over ten standalone applications that are still in use today. Automation tools were developed in C# using the NX Open and .NET libraries.Soon my role changed to supporting Baker Hughes expandable reamer, GaugePro. A mechanical activated reamer tool used while drilling deep water GOM and North Sea wells. I eventually became the team leader for GaugePro and led a project that redesigned the internal components to reduce repair and maintenance cost and improve operating margins by increasing component life. During the redesign I worked closely with our tribology experts to develop seal components that would ensure high reliability in multiple fluid environments. After the GaugePro redesign was completed, I was asked to lead a team of design engineers, manufacturing engineers, manufacturing personnel and maintenance personnel to develop a new one-piece steel body diamond bit. The team consisted of over 20 individual contributors. I was responsible for developing the new product, material selection, designing the manufacturing process and creating design guidelines to be followed by other engineers for customizing this product. The product was called “Talon 3D High-Efficiency Vector-Accurate PDC Bit” and was launched in 2011. The project was a tremendous success and allowed Baker Hughes to enter markets that were previous unavailable. -
