I often had days where I was the only member of staff on shift, creating a high-pressure environment where I had to juggle lots of different jobs while also keeping customers happy, including food running and order taking, as well as the previously mentioned bar jobs.

During my time there I developed excellent people skills, knowledge of spirits, and great care over the cleanliness of my environment. I was promoted to the position of supervisor, which gave me the opportunity to learn extra skills such as staff management, complaint resolving and back of house office work (cashing up tills/emails/stock management). I enjoyed the new responsibilities and enjoyed training other new bar staff. I was also given the new responsibility of working on expedite, making sure the floor to kitchen communication was clear and the food was making its way to tables promptly and efficiently without error. As a team we could do over 300 covers in one day and keeping on track required focus, professionalism and teamwork. After a period of furlough, I returned to The Dog, assisting with making the pub covid safe for staff and customers alike.
