About Will Perreault

Will Perreault is a Community Development Finance professional with over 15 years of experience spanning the public, private, non-profit, and philanthropic sectors. He serves on the executive team of Self-Help, a leading national Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI). Self-Help has deployed over $12 billion in loans and investments, intended to create economic opportunity for all, especially people of color, women, rural residents, immigrants, and low-wealth communities. As Chief of Staff and President of Self-Help's Community Impact Investment Corp., Will leads strategic initiatives, financial analysis, corporate development/merger due diligence, real estate transactions, and organizational strategy on behalf of Self-Help’s Co-Founder/CEO Martin Eakes.Before joining Self-Help’s executive team, Will managed operations in Nairobi for a $42 million grant-making program following Kenya’s 2007 post-election violence. He also conducted finance, operations, and impact evaluation work for USAID financial inclusion and governance programs in the DR Congo, Haiti, and Somalia. Most recently, he served at the National Economic Council in the Obama White House, where he focused on CDFIs, rural policy, climate resilience, infrastructure investment, and clean energy. Earlier in his career, he served as a finance officer for a housing program in Appalachia and managed over 1,000 volunteers in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Will was honored for his leadership contributions as a 2016 Aspen Ideas Fellow by the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, a Bill Emerson Fellow by the Congressional Hunger Center, and a Greenways & Open Space Honor Awardee by the Town of Chapel Hill. He currently serves on the Finance & Investment Committee of The Triangle Land Conservancy and the Board and Finance Committee of Carol Woods. He holds a self-designed bachelors in Rural Poverty Studies and Community Development from Davidson College and a masters in Advanced Policy and Economic Analysis from Columbia University.
