    Candidate
Columbus City Council Jan 2015 - May 2015
    Columbus, Ohio
I ran for Columbus City Council in 2015 and 2017. I ran, because I believe all of us deserve safety, security, and the opportunity to contribute to our neighborhood. Columbus can be a city where we all make a decent wage, pay for the basics, and have the opportunity to spend time with the people we love.We don't all currently have that opportunity. Columbus is a tale of two cities. While many have access to good jobs and opportunities, many neighborhoods are excluded from basic opportunities like access to a grocery store. We have one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country, and our schools and neighborhoods are segregated by race and income. We can do better. We have to better.Cities are where innovation is happening. Cities are making concrete changes to improve people’s quality of life. Dozens of cities have increased the minimum wage in the past few years. Some are making Pre-K accessible to all children. Here are a few highlights of what I accomplished in running for City Council:- Raised over $48,000 from over 450 donations in 2017 and $16,500 during the primary in 2015- Persuaded 8,628 voters in the Primary and 26,313 voters in the General Election in Columbus to vote for Will Petrik in 2017 and over 6,500 voters in the 2015 Primary election- Recruited and coordinated over 100 volunteers in 2015 primary election- Coordinated dozens of volunteers to collect over 2,000 signatures to secure ballot access in 2015 and 2017
