I continue to provide mentorship to teams in an unofficial capacity.Providing students the opportunity to develop skills transactional attorneys rely upon, including client interaction, contract drafting, contract mark-up, and face-to-face negotiations. Based on M&A from a legal perspective, students learn:• to focus on what issues are critical to the client, • considerations in drafting key contract provisions, • best practices in “red-lining” opposing counsel’s draft document, and • negotiation strategy and etiquette. This course serves as the cornerstone for the James E. Rogers College of Law’s transactional law team covering deal law and process. The course prepares students for participation in the National Transactional Law Meet, the premier interscholastic competition for law students interested in transactional practice. Each year’s team will be selected based on course performance. A student must take the course to be eligible for the team. -
