I was a postdoc in the Chemical and Biological Engineering department at the Colorado School of Mines. I was mainly focused on thin-film coatings for energy efficient windows using plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD). Also, I assisted with the development of new deposition methods for making high-efficiency CdTe solar cells.

Initially I was involved in a project focused on low-cost III-V based solar cells, which concluded in September 2011. My primary responsibilities were characterizing III-V semiconductors and designing/fabricating III-V solar cells on lattice-matched spinel substrates.In October 2011, I joined the CdTe group also at NREL. I was focused on using flexible glass as the device substrate for CdTe solar cells. In 2013, this work resulted in the highest certified efficiency for a flexible CdTe solar cell (14%), and some of this work was also highlighted in an MIT Technology Review article.

I collaborated with the organic synthesis group in the design of semiconducting thiophene-based dendrimers, and evaluated the efficacy of different dendrimer designs. I also fabricated and optimized dendrimer:fullerene photovoltaic devices, and ultimately achieved moderate power conversion efficiencies of above 1%.Later, I investigated the fundamental charge generation and recombination processes in both dendrimer:fullerene and polymer:fullerene blends using contactless time-resolved microwave conductivity (TRMC).
