Consumer Research & Analytics Fellow
During my second year graduate assistantship in the Consumer Research and Analytics Center at Ohio University. I acted as a consultant for projects brought into the center. I worked specifically with Ohio University Athletic Department and Hocking Hills Winery. I worked with OU Athletics to address a trend of decreasing season ticket sales. Our team analyzed historical data to identify specific problem areas. We provided recommendations to improve internal and external issues. I also performed scenario analysis on potential package changes in order to increase revenue. I helped launch the creation of a retention model to help the department identify which members will renew their packages to improve the efficiency of their sales staff.I worked with Hocking Hills to identify the impact of COVID-19 on their operations. Their business saw increased sales during the pandemic and I helped explore their sales data to discover why. I worked with the client to understand the changes made to the physical store and product line to help maintain increased revenue levels going forward.
Analytics Graduate Assistant
During my first-year graduate assistantship I was able to get hands-on experience creating a revenue model for secondary tickets. During my time with Dynasty (now rebranded as Logitix) I also researched trends and significant variables affecting the secondary market. I utilized Tableau and Excel to manipulate and visualize data for my research projects.
Marketing Operations Intern
I started my internship at Workiva the summer before my senior year. The marketing operations team worked with both sales and marketing to provide data to assist with their projects. I helped ensure data integrity within our CRM platform (Salesforce) and our marketing automation system (Marketo). My role also assisted with lead acquisition and scoring to provide highly qualified leads to our sales reps. I also segmented our audience to supply lists for marketing campaigns. Once the campaigns were completed, I would measure their effectiveness based on a variety of KPIs.I also lead a project researching international financial reporting standards across the globe as our company looked to expand its operations to APAC and build its presence in Europe.
Marketing Intern
After working Promo Crew my sophomore year, I was hired to become a marketing intern junior year. This allowed to get more involved in marketing strategy. I was responsible for creating the season long marketing plan for wrestling and softball. Building off the excitement of new head coach Kevin Dresser we were able to grow attendance by 17%. As a marketing intern I also assisted with in-game promotional activities at all Cyclone sports.
Intern
During my junior year I was able to volunteer organizing the 2018 Empire State Winter Games in Lake Placid, New York. A highlight of my time at ESWG was the opening ceremony where over 2,500 participants were able to experience an Olympic style start to the weekend. Leading up to the beginning of the event I assisted with sponsorship activation for the inaugural Torch Relay. Throughout the competition I was responsible for managing waivers for the fan village and the transportation of winter bike athletes.
Ticketing & Group Sales Intern
The summer prior to my junior year I interned at Iowa Speedway in Newton, Iowa. I was able to step out of my comfort zone by becoming the point of contact for all customers looking to purchase ticket packages to NASCAR and IndyCar events. I generated $100,000 in sales during the course of my internship. I used Ticketmaster Archtics System to manage relationships with customers. During race days, I managed part-time staff in multiple ticket booths. I also returned after my internship to help in ticket booths on race days.
Promo Crew Intern
Promo Crew was my first experience working in the sports industry. During my sophomore year I would help the marketing department perform game day operations. This included setup and tear down of Cyclone Experience, a specific tailgate for Jr. Cyclone Club members and their families. I would also execute the on-court promotions during Iowa State basketball, wrestling, and volleyball games.
