I am a Group Finance Director with extensive commercial, operational and acquisition experience, including fund raising, developing business plans for start-ups and post acquisition integration. In my current role at Iliffe Media Group, I have I set up the new company from scratch to launch a brand new newspaper title. I established all services for the new business, including outsourcing finance and publishing systems. I then led six acquisitions from inception to being fully integrated, including all legal SPA/APA documentation, whilst also leading all the major operational systems implementations as we brought these in-house. I have also created four joint venture businesses, one of which has a defined benefit pension scheme, which I have just ensured is now in a surplus position. Current turnover for the Group is £22m.During a continual period of declining revenues, with responsibility for the Group HR function, I have also led multiple cost reduction and restructuring programs, with the current one projected to save £1.7m annually, equivalent to 15% of employee numbers. I have also saved over £0.5m of finance costs through process and staff efficiencies. I have a tenacious approach to cash management, essential in regional media. Indeed, throughout the duration of the pandemic, a tumultuous time for the publishing industry, I ensured no additional funds were required from the shareholder, whilst repaying HMRC in accordance with all agreed timelines.In 2014, I completed an integration role, accountable for merging the finance and support functions of two media businesses with a combined turnover of £250m, a role which delivered over £2.4m of synergies in 2013. I have successfully built, shaped and ultimately closed finance and operational teams, including setting up a shared service function in 2009, serving seven legal entities. I thrive on looking forward, analysing trends and adding value to a business. I have worked across many industries and have a strong track record of project implementation and business change, with successful ERP implementations in Italy, South Africa and Portugal. I have also worked in a global consolidation role, consolidating results for over 200 business units.
