Managing a portfolio of curriculum based ICT and infrastructure projects for teachers and children Jersey's schools. A large network of 10000 users, 50+ sites and 1000 wireless access points. Challenges here include compliance with Safeguarding governance principles while promoting free communication and collaboration. Projects completed on budget include Office 365 SharePoint introduction, Office 365 Outlook migration, MS Teams for Staff and Students, wireless network expansion in to Youth Service, replacement of KACE desktop management system with Microsoft SCCM and Windows 10 Upgrade to 4300+ workstations across 35 schools.

Managing a £1.4 M portfolio of technology and business change projects for the Wholesale division, encompassing IoT, Mobile Subscriber Intelligence and Messaging. These are rapidly developing and dynamic markets that demand fast paced agile projects delivering high availability solutions. Emerging technology and changing legislation present many challenges and opportunities that mean no two projects here are the same, but all must be run to high standards of governance in compliance with external audit. Incorporates 3 roles:Desktop Support Manager – managing a team of technicians who deliver customer service at the point of use. The team handles the planned replacement program, moves, new installations, break/fix and inventory/ secure disposal. Covering all 60 HSS sites (including sterile clinical areas), Fire & Ambulance, and all non-curriculum Education Sport & Culture sites.Desktop Systems Manager – overseeing the SCCM environment for the whole states of Jersey. Managing the team that packages/sequences all applications for deployment through SCCM to the entire estate of over 4000 machines. This department handles most of the level 2/3 technical escalations from the States Wide Service desk, the more complex and high profile problem management.Fire/Ambulance Business Relationship Manager - providing full business analysis and project management services for both services. Technical architect and project manager for Combined Control Centre System. Customer relationship management, supplier management and author of IS strategies for both services.

While I really enjoyed leading the Desktop Team and we achieved a lot I want to use more of my skills and experience which I reckon means driving technical projects. So...I am now on a 6 month part time secondment to the SOJ Web team to work on Exemplar projects. Likely to be the Digital ID project when I can be freed up completely from my other duties at Fire and Ambulance but initially I am running the e-Alerts project alongside a CRM project for Fire.Loads to do - sleeves rolled up and loving the challenge though!

Still performing a technology consultant/project management role at Fire and Ambulance but now managing a team of support technicians covering the 60+ HSS sites in Jersey as well as Education Sport and Culture non-curriculum. We are the physical presence of the ISD Helpdesk that is still needed when remote support cannot achieve an incident resolution.

Although employed by ISD, work full time on client main site managing the local infrastructure, managing IS related projects and leading the Fire Service IS strategy. Very embedded in the business and very excited by the possibilities that the Cloud and BYO can bring to this small but complex business.Managed a major project to co-design and implement the Combined Control Centre system which handles all of the 999 calls to Ambulance and Fire in Jersey. This was at the time only the second such system in the EMEA region. Ths project lead to an enduring interest in GIS and the implementation of CacCorp's Incident Support Mapping application in Fire Services Command Support Unit, running on a IS platform I designed and built.The rest of the work was great here. Everything from IS and data management strategies down to setting up wireless comms network and fault finding vehicle information systems.

A variety of consultancy roles and client project management positions, both internal and external.Helped with reviewing helpdesk and logistics operations and worked with some pan-island customers. Last project was pre-sales consultancy for Jersey Harbours, leading to a contract to replace their leased network infrastructure with their own fibre network for data and CCTV.

Worked on a number of medium sized projects, starting with the data network in the JEC Powerhouse building at Queens Road, and finishing with a large software development project for a firm of local advocates.

After working at JP Morgan I stayed with UNIX Limited and went on to perform a number of consultant roles at various London and New York Merchant Banks:Industrial Bank of Japan - stepped in to manage their UNIX environment when their long term manager resigned unexpectedly. Stablised the environment, documented management and support procedures/interfaces etc with great support from Peter Winterflood and finally helped select the replacement manager.Chase Manhatten - Assisted with long term server size planning.Nomura - Reviewed the UNIX helpdesk sustainability and created plan to reduce vulnerabilities.Instinet - Opened up this client for Company-i with inital workflow management consultation.Deutch Bank - Streamlined a software packaging and release process that spanned London and new York.JP Morgan - supporting the GemStone object database Solaris infrastructure and small IBM AIX server farm.JP Morgan - defined and streamlined a package release process for business group.

Working through UNIX Limited I took on the management and development of a level 2 internal service desk, formalising change management (using Lotus Notes), driving up effeciency and improving customer satisfaction. Introduced the concept of internal SLA's (OLA's), formalising the relationship/interfaces with internal businesses such as Foreign Exchange (ForEx), Equities, Fixed Income, and Risk.

Supporting back office and trade floor Solaris based UNIX environment. Implemented an automatic paging alert facility and started a project to introduce a Remedy ARS based helpdesk system. First expereience with Sybase RDBMS.
