On January 15th, 2020 Ironwood Insurance Services was acquired by Marsh McLennan Agency. Will Underwood will remain on board as Chief Executive Officer of Ironwood and will provide oversight and support at the local level. Additionally, Will has accepted a role as National Practice Leader for The Marsh McLennan Agency Private Equity and Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. He will be responsible for growing the existing Ironwood Private Equity practice as well as supporting Marsh McLennan Agency private equity clients with insurance and employee benefits diligence and portfolio consulting.

Will Underwood is currently the Founder and Managing Partner of Ironwood Insurance Services, a commercial insurance broker and employee benefits consulting firm headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.

Will was a partner and senior leader at Palmer & Cay, the second largest privately held insurance brokerage operation in America, from 1993 to 2005. At Palmer & Cay, he created and managed the company's private equity practice, which performed due diligence on all areas of commercial insurance and became one of the industry's fastest growing practices, conducting due diligence on up to 100 deals per year. The firm was acquired by Wachovia Insurance Services in 2005, and Will remained with Wachovia until April 2007, when he left to form Ironwood Insurance Services.

Duncan Peek was a local privately held insurance brokerage firm located in Atlanta. Will was a commercial lines producer and client service representative. Duncan Peek was sold to a larger broker in 1992.

Mr. Underwood started his career in London in 1986 working for the Fenchurch Group, a Lloyds of London insurance broker where he placed large global property risks in the London market.
