SavaJe develops Java-based embedded firmware for GSM mobile phones. My work was mostly in telephony (where we interface to the GSM network, keep track of the states of phone calls, etc). I also worked in the USB/ethernet stack and other low-level hardware stuff.

SecureMedia markets a DRM system used to distribute audio and video content to the home while preserving copyright. My role was to prepare demos for potential business partners, and to provide technical support when tying our DRM solution into other companies' network technologies. When I started working for this company, it was Xionics Document Technologies. Xionics was later acquired by Oak Technology, which was acquired by Zoran. I left during the Oak period. I also initiated a project to market a radio-controlled toy truck with an electronic camera that could transmit low-frame-rate video back to a base unit. This was intended as a toy, with possible applications in home or office security.
