My role is to create engaging and easy to use design interfaces for complex pieces of software and websites. At Valueworks, we split development work between offshore developers and in house developers using different technologies. My challenge currently, is to create a common user interface to marry all the bits of software together and create an overall brand and common user interface and experience. We currently have two main products; shop4support.com - A web site/ web app, which has to be accessible to all. Users would include Local Authorities, Budget Managers and Personal users who could have a range of disabilities including mental and physical disabilities. We have held user group feedback sessions to gain knowledge to create a user interface that would suit all. Additions include text and contrast settings, a text reader and a clutter free design. We aim to be AAA compliant and continually work towards this standard.e-Marketplaces - My current project, which is currently in its second phase. We currently have three separate products; Catalogue Management, Eproc 2 and e-Marketplaces, which are all, built using separate technologies. My goal is to integrate them into one product under the e-Marketplaces branding to give the impression of one unified product. I have been responsible for the design and prototyping of e-Marketplaces using Photoshop, XHTML, JQuery and CSS.I also offer advice on user experience, work with the business analysts and to manage the design department, covering all marketing and design areas such as fliers, email campaigns and recently, an office re-design.

Working in the web design department at the Lancashire Evening Post to produce work for online editorial content, and also the commercial department to produce brochure websites; banners and skyscrapers; and the occasional print based job. This was my first web design job and I gained key skills, which included CSS and XHTML. Previous to my Web Designer role I worked as a Mac Operator. My role involved creating adverts for the local newspapers using Quark Express.
