Wil began his college career in exercise science due to his love of wellness, but found inspiration in his introductory psychology class and chose to pursue that instead. He got involved with research in the Human Development and Family Science department at Auburn University under the supervision of Dr. Brian Vaughn and Dr. Wendy Troop-Gordon. The ongoing research examines preschool children’s social competence. His work has included coding emotional response data from videos of children playing in controlled environments. Wil's roles included identifying positive and negative emotions in children and assessing what variables may have led to that behavior. These tasks required acute attention to detail and precision in identifying the subtleties of their emotions. Beyond providing Wil with experience in behavioral analysis and coding, his time with Dr. Vaughn ignited his passion for research.Wil took a class with Dr. Wendy Troop-Gordon in which he worked in Lafayette’s Eastside Elementary School to help teach children with social skill deficits how to have better peer relations. Wil and a team of four other students were tasked with targeting skill deficits in each child and finding innovative ways to help them. Together, they tackled these problems using a variety of strategies, such as modeling to pick out the best behaviors in each of the children, and encourage the other children to mimic those behaviors. This experience gave Wil an opportunity to identify training and developmental needs in addition to formulating and implementing training programs with a team.In addition to his academic work, Wil has developed skills in employee training and analyzing workplace productivity. He currently serves as an HR Generalist for The Diamond Store. He is responsible for coordinating and communicating with International Vendors, Maintaining the digital infrastructure of The Diamond Store's multiple locations, and monitoring Employee relations. Wil's personal motto is that his one goal is to provide every ounce of value he's worth to his employers. Wil is social, focused, and precise with the endorsement of all current and previous employers.
