I am an Agricultural Engineer with over a decade of experience specializing in irrigation systems and water resources management. My expertise lies in improving irrigation practices through the application of innovative technologies and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), aiming to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability. Additionally, I possess skills in community engagement and capacity building, along with designing and developing data collection applications and data visualization tools to effectively present information and support the decision-making process.As the Head of the Department for Planning Monitoring and Evaluation at the National Institute of Irrigation in Mozambique, I oversee strategic initiatives to enhance irrigation practices nationwide and prepare and manage the budget for the irrigation subsector. In addition to this role, I also serve as a GIS Specialist, managing the Institute's Irrigation Database. In this capacity, I ensure data accuracy and accessibility, which are critical for effective irrigation planning and management.In my previous role as a Project Manager at the institute, I led the implementation of the Transforming Smallholder Irrigation Schemes in Africa Project, funded by the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR). This project focused on improving the production and productivity of smallholder farmers by fostering stakeholder connections, implementing the Agricultural Innovation Platform (AIP), and promoting tools for effective water and nutrient management. Our efforts, in this project, resulted in a 25% increase in production by promoting best practices and optimizing water applications.
