  • Infinera
Photonic Integrated Circuit Test Development Engineer
    Infinera Jul 2014 - Jul 2017
    Sunnyvale, Ca
I work with a team of brilliant engineers at the heart of the photonic integrated circuits research and development (R&D) group inside Infinera. My main duty involves design verification tests (DVT) during the product development cycle to refine the design of prototype products. Hardware- Apply my knowledge in photonics to explain device characteristics, and to make recommendation in the design to enhance product performance based on test data collected- Develop photonic device testing methodology- High speed QAM system evaluation and bring upSoftware- Test automation- Develop modular test software architecture to allow for easy plug-and-play testing of sub-components on a wide variety of different products- Database and data structure design for easy retrieval of test dataData scientist- Spotting and explaining trends in product design, often with the use of statistical analysis

    Phd Student
University Of California, Berkeley Aug 2008 - Jul 2014
My Ph.D. research is on giving silicon the ability to "make" and "see" light. Silicon is essentially what all electronics are made out of, but it does not interact with light well. If we can augment silicon with efficient ways to produce and detect light, we can create a whole new class of light interacting devices that can make computing faster and energy efficient, and sensors that can be used in autonomous cars and medical diagnostics. To achieve this, I integrate tiny III-V lasers and detectors, which are about 100 times smaller than the width of a human hair, onto silicon. Through my research project, I have gained deep knowledge in nanofabrication, electrical/optical device design and testing, and system integration. I have also applied by coding skills to build numerous automated, easily expandable electrical/optical characterization setups to aid my research.
  • Uc Berkeley
    Student Mentor
    Uc Berkeley Jun 2012 - Aug 2013
Mentored 2 undergraduate, 1 high school students during summer research programs. Students learned microelectronics principles and worked closely with graduate students to contribute to hands-on research projects. Student projects led: - Develop new device metallization techniques to lower device contact resistance - Building of a new electrical and optical characterization setup - Design and simulation of new phototransistor device using Sentaurus
  • Cisco
    Intern
    Cisco Jun 2008 - Aug 2008
    San Francisco Bay Area
Successfully implemented driver firmware support for CableLabs DOCSIS 3.0 Channel Type 4A (ATDMA) and 4S (SCDMA) in UBR7200 and UBR10K2 Cable Modem Termination System (CMTS). This includes handling of the underlying protocol and handshake messages such that the CMTS can establish connection to cable modems using the new DOCSIS 3.0 standard. Also implemented Command Line Interface for modifying performance parameters.
  • Uc Berkeley
    Teaching Assistant
    Uc Berkeley Aug 2007 - May 2008
Head lab teaching assistant for a microelectronic class (EE 105) of ~ 24 students on building and analyzing microelectronic circuits, amplifiers and power sources. Also helped redesign lab assignments to incorporate more interesting circuit applications, such as AM radio and microphone/speaker amplifiers, to the course curriculum
