As of June 2024, I have retired from EUROCONTROL.Since the beginning of 2017, I was Head of Unit for Master Plan and Architecture in @EUROCONTROL. The team that I was proud to lead is at the heart of the maintenance of the ATM Master Plan and of the European ATM Architecture (EATMA) (both on www.atmmasterplan.eu). We worked in close cooperation with the whole European ATM stakeholder community to update the ATM Master Plan every couple of years. The work we did with the SESAR partners on the European ATM Architecture is an essential input for that. Together we aimed to facilitate the best possible business decision making throughout the ATM community to keep air traffic safe and efficient for the decades to come.Up to 2016, I was privileged to work for eight years as EUROCONTROL staff at the SESAR Joint Undertaking (@SJU), starting as Programme Manager for System Wide Information Management (SWIM) and finishing as head of programme management. This has been a very interesting but also demanding time with plenty of learning opportunities, working at the heart of the SESAR R&D Programme.Before joining the SJU I already worked in EUROCONTROL for seven years on future concepts and European ATM strategy, closely coordinating with representatives from the European Commission and the FAA.My first 10+ years I spent in research at @NLR in Amsterdam, where I investigated various potential ATM improvements, including the PHARE 4D ATM concept (I still have a few copies of the video we made which could be interesting if you are working on TBO). At that time, we ran the first ever real-time demonstration of a full-4D concept, including the integration via data-link of a laboratory aircraft equipped with an experimental 4D FMS.As a general principle I will accept most LinkedIn connections IF we have met before in person.
